Obesity

Weight is a medical issue braided into a dozen others: sleep, joints, blood sugar, mood, mobility. We address it honestly — without moralism — as part of ongoing primary care.

How we care for it at home

  • Realistic goals set to what improves function and comorbidities.
  • Nutrition guidance grounded in what's actually in the kitchen.
  • Consideration of GLP-1 and other pharmacologic options where appropriate.
  • Coordination with bariatric surgery and specialty programs when indicated.

What we watch for

  • Blood sugar, blood pressure, lipids, and sleep apnea.
  • Joint pain and mobility over time.
  • Mood — obesity and depression are frequently entangled.
  • Muscle mass, especially in older adults on aggressive weight loss.
