Stroke Recovery
The weeks after a stroke are when the most recovery happens — and the most is at stake. Bedside primary care in those weeks prevents the second stroke and preserves the ground already gained.
How we care for it at home
- Blood pressure, cholesterol, and rhythm managed to prevent recurrence.
- Coordination with physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
- Home adapted for one-sided weakness, aphasia, or visual field loss.
- Emotional support — depression after stroke is common and treatable.
What we watch for
- New neurologic changes, however small.
- Aspiration risk and swallowing safety.
- Anticoagulation, when indicated, watched carefully.
- Mood, sleep, and cognitive recovery month over month.
